Last month, our team had the opportunity to attend the Annual Wellness Summit, hosted by the Wellness Alliance in Austin, Texas. Known as one of the most respected and impactful worksite wellness conferences in the country, the Summit brought together hundreds of wellness professionals to share best practices, exchange ideas, and learn innovative strategies for supporting healthier workplaces.
This year was especially exciting for us, because our manager, Mallory Rubek, was invited to present her breakout session titled:
“Beyond the Lunch and Learn: Engaging Employees Through Experiential Learning”
Mallory on Stage
In her session, Mallory explored creative, hands-on ways organizations can move beyond traditional “lunch and learn” models to engage employees through experiential activities. Drawing from her background leading therapeutic ropes courses and her experience facilitating team-building events across UF and UF Health departments, Mallory shared practical strategies for designing workshops that bring people together, spark collaboration, and create lasting impact.
The room was packed with more than 100 attendees who didn’t just listen, but actively participated. Mallory guided the group through several interactive team-building activities, sparking both laughter and thoughtful discussion. The energy in the room was contagious, and participants left with real, actionable ideas they could take back to their own organizations. Check out just a few of the responses below!
“I want to increase engagement at my job by implementing team building exercises. This is exactly what I was looking for!”
“My workplace used to have all types of experiential learning and the lack of it over the past 3-4 years has really taken a toll on our people and culture. I am excited to bring it back!”
“This was an extremely helpful session. I intend to incorporate team-building at my worksite using the 6 step framework. Thank you for this session!”
Why This Matters
Speaking at the Annual Wellness Summit was both an honor and a milestone. For Mallory, it was the fulfillment of a professional goal she had set after attending the Summit for the first time last year. “It was incredibly rewarding to share my knowledge and passion with such an engaged group of wellness professionals. I left feeling energized, grateful, and excited to continue leading future sessions!” says Mallory.
For our team, it was an opportunity to showcase their commitment to advancing workplace wellness and to highlight the value of experiential learning as a tool for employee engagement. We’re proud that our work resonates with so many wellness professionals across the country, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going.
Bring Experiential Learning to Your Team
The strategies Mallory shared at the Summit aren’t just for conferences, they’re available for your department too! By request, our team can facilitate tailored team-building workshops designed to meet your group’s unique needs. Whether you’re looking to strengthen communication, boost morale, or foster collaboration, we can design interactive sessions that make learning memorable (and fun!).
