FAQ’s
What is a health coach?
- A health coach is a health education professional who helps individuals achieve their health goals through guidance, resources, support, and assist in overcoming barriers. They focus on all areas of wellness including but not limited to nutrition, exercise, stress management, and lifestyle changes to improve overall health.
Can I choose my health coach?
- No. Based on your registration responses you will be matched with the health coach that best aligns with your wellness goals.
How soon should I expect to hear from my health coach after my appointment request form is submitted?
- You should be matched and hear from your health coach within 3-5 business days.
- Please note: Due to having a limited number of health coaches, this program is first come, first serve. Depending on program demand, we may delay your first appointment.
What can I expect from my first session?
- The first session typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour. You will meet individually with your health coach for an active working session. This will include signing a confidentiality agreement together, having a discussion on the structure of the program and about your health goals, priorities and creating a realistic action plan. All check-in meetings will las 30-45 minutes.
Can I meet my health coach virtually?
- Yes. Our One-on-One health coaching program is completely virtual and will take place through Zoom.

Is health coaching confidential?
- Yes, health coaching sessions are confidential. Coaches are bound by a confidentiality agreement that you sign together to protect your privacy.
What areas of health can health coaching assist with?
- Health coaching can support a wide range of diabetes-related goals. For example, someone working with a coach might focus on building healthier eating habits to help manage blood sugar, developing a more consistent physical activity routine, improving sleep to support energy levels, or managing stress which can impact glucose levels. Even if your goals are broader, like wanting to feel more balanced, more in charge, or simply less overwhelmed, a health coach can help you create a personalized, achievable plan that fits your lifestyle and supports your diabetes management journey.

- The duration of this health coaching program can last up to four months. To accommodate the demand for this program you may only participate in Thriving with Diabetes on an annual basis.
