Wear Green for the Start of Mental Health Month
Show your support for Mental Health Awareness Month by wearing green and encouraging your colleagues to do the same! Snap a photo of your team or your personal green style and submit it to help us spread awareness and support for mental well-being across UF & UF Health. Together, we can show that mental health matters.

SafeTalk Training Course
This free, half-day SafeTalk training is designed to help you recognize the signs when someone may be struggling with thoughts of suicide—and how to confidently and compassionately connect them to help. This evidence-based training will empower you to make a real difference in your workplace and community.

Saturday, May 3 – Gainesville
Guided Nature Walk at Loblolly Park
Step outside and connect with nature while exploring the beautiful Loblolly Park in Gainesville. Dr. Andreu will guide this refreshing nature walk, highlighting the connection between time spent in nature and improved mental well-being. This is a great way to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month with movement, fresh air, and good company.

Sound Bath Meditation
Immerse yourself in a unique and deeply relaxing experience with this sound bath meditation. Using sound vibrations from singing bowls and other instruments, this session helps promote deep relaxation, stress relief, and mental clarity.

Mental Health First Aid Training
This free, full-day training teaches you how to recognize the early signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, how to approach someone who may be struggling, and how to connect them to professional support if needed. We know that life can feel overwhelming sometimes. Whether you’re looking for quick stress relief, mental health support, leadership tools to help your team thrive, or just a little inspiration, we’ve gathered a variety of resources to support you.
🌟 Appreciation & Connection
- Give a teammate a High Five: Take a moment to recognize your teammates for their hard work, kindness, and collaboration. Through UF’s Health’s High Five program, you can send a virtual high five to show your appreciation — a small gesture that can make someone’s day.
🧠 Mental Health & Emotional Well-being
- Talkspace & EAP: Need to talk? You can connect with a licensed counselor through Talkspace, offering flexible text, audio, and video therapy, or through the UF/UF Health Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) for confidential support. The UF Employee Assistance Program is available for free to all UF employees. The UF Health Employee Assistance Program is also free for all UF Health employees. Talkspace is available for free for GatorCare members only.
- EAP Manager Resources: If you lead a team, your role in supporting employee well-being matters more than ever. The EAP Manager Toolkit offers expert guidance to help you recognize signs of distress, initiate supportive conversations, and foster a culture where mental health is prioritized.
- Elmo & Steve Remind Us We’re All Human: Sometimes, comfort comes from the most unexpected places. If you haven’t seen Elmo’s viral check-in, it’s a heartwarming reminder to pause and ask, “How are you really doing?” Plus, take a trip down memory lane with Steve from Blue’s Clues, whose message to grown-up fans still resonates today.
💭 Mindfulness & Relaxation
- UF Mindfulness Resources: Whether you’re brand new to mindfulness or looking to deepen your practice, UF’s Mindfulness Resources library offers guided meditations, breathing exercises, and techniques to help you find calm, even on your busiest days.
- UF Calm Subscription: Don’t forget — UF employees receive a free Calm subscription, and you can even add up to five family members at no cost. Calm offers sleep stories, guided meditations, stress relief tools, and more. UF Employees can learn how to sign up here.
