Additional Gratitude

Healthcare Heroes, you deserve some love! Close your eyes, scroll down, and read a new “Thank You” each day! (These messages were submitted between September 1 and December 2.)

  • Dear healthcare workers from all over the world, I want to thank you all for the great work you guys are doing so far, preventing further damage that this horrible virus is causing in the world. I know that most of the time you guys do not get recognized for the great work you do, but from my point of view, there is no money, medals, trophies, ceremonies that could give the sufficient recognition you guys deserve because you guys save lives and there is not price that pays for a life. My simple thank you for the amazing job you guys do is not enough but I want to say thank you anyway to remind that you guys matter, that you guys are important and that I am grateful for your existence in this world full of illnesses. Thanks a lot Best of Regards, Gleyce

  • Dear Healthcare worker(s),   I wanted to thank you for all of the work and selfless sacrifice you and your fellow coworkers are doing in this pandemic. You all are risking your lives providing care for COVID-19 patients and it needs to be said that there are people who greatly appreciate and admire all of you.  A simple “thank you” does not do justice to the work all of you are doing, I’m doing my best as a citizen to stay at home and annoy the heck out of my representatives in congress to push for legislation to try to help all of you get better compensation and policies that will make this pandemic a little easier to handle.  I just wanted to say that although you are all busy caring for the sick and vulnerable, I hope you are also taking some time to yourself to practice self-care and de-stress. Your health is important too.  With gratitude, Hope G (Ohio)

  • Hello healthcare workers, my name is Sakib Ahmed and I am a junior at John R. Lewis High School. During this time of unfortunate happenings you guys have been the superheroes that rose to the occasion and are saving the day every single day. Without you this battle against COVID would have been long lost, but with your service you give the people of America hope. Hope is something that shines brightest at dark times and you guys are making it shine even brighter. Tirelessly working long shifts and giving aid to those who need it are things only superheroes do, and I think you guys are doing exactly that. Below I have attached an image of a hamster giving you a thumbs up because YOU GOT THIS! There is only so much that I, as a high school student, can do to relieve some of the stress that is prevalent in your job, but I hope this letter helps alleviate some of that stress.

Thank you for healing my friends and family. I know that without you, this population would be close to nothing. You do so much more than any other person and you deserve everything you desire. We love you and keep up your amazing work!
  • Hi there! I’m a student from Toronto and during this unprecedented time I want to thank you for your hard work and dedication. There aren’t enough word’s to express my gratitude. You along with others working in hospitals are amazing for what you do, you bring light and hope into people’s lives and I hope you know that. Remember to take breaks, eat, and drink often to stay healthy. Stay strong! You are all doing your best and we all sincerely appreciate you.  Here’s a fun fact: Did you know that sea otters hold hands as they sleep so they don’t drift apart? 🙂
  • There is no way to express how thankful our family is to have you there keeping us safe and healing us!  Thankfully we have not needed emergency services or covid-19 related services.  But we want you to know how much we appreciate what you do, that we know your job is hard and we appreciate the sacrifices you make every day – whether it is getting exposed to Covid, giving up family time, working that 12 hour shift and then having to stay even longer… we see you and thank you!!!!
  • A poem of thanks, I will be rather frank, To all of the nurses in the nation, Saving us all from devastation, The ray of hope you cast on us all,  Has kept us stable during this fall, Your sense of duty is relentless,  Complemented by your gentillesse, Along with you, healthcare, I shall pursue, But for now I thank you and bid adieu  Thank you so much for everything you’ve done during this pandemic. Your contributions are invaluable and we love and appreciate you for making healthcare accessible to all in need.   Joshua Paes
  • Right now times are rough, and everyone is doing their best they can but I am truly grateful and inspired by all the work being done by healthcare workers. You guys are literal super heros. I am constantly in awe by how much you guys risk you lives for others. I am proud to say that I can rely on our healthcare workers when in need. The braveness it takes a person to risk their lives and their loved ones is modest. I do not have other words but THANK YOU! Sincerely,  Emily <3
  • Thank You for all you’ve done to help us during this time of chaos. In times like these, one might get the sense to give up or word even harder. And to that I say, you are strong and amazing, keep up the amazing work you’ve been doing. I  value and appreciate you for your hard work and dedication to helping the community. I strive to one day be able to do what you do.   best regards,                          Ileana Garcia

Thank you for all we do so each and every day. Thank you for keeping our community safe and healthy. You are definitely loved, don’t forget that! Stay strong and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you again.
  • Thank you so much for just stepping inside and doing your job each and every day that you are there! Having family who works on the front lines in the medical field, including at UF Health, I understand the feelings and emotions that can be going through your head all the time. Putting yourself in places and situations that almost nobody else would be willing to at this time shows that you are truly a part of the best of us, and are helping everyone – whether they know it or not – get through this all. Thank you.
  • Thank you for your service especially during this crazy time! I have a few family members in the health care profession and so I know how hard you work everyday. I think you are brave and are showing your passion and care everyday when you step into work. I hope you have a wonderful week! And again thank you for all that you do!!
  • Dear the Brave Healthcare Workers at UF, I would like to thank you for risking your own health to better the health of others. It is extremely selfless of all of you, from the doctors to the physical therapists to the janitors and other staff, I would like to thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do. Its something that not many people can do, and in fact something that not everyone follows through with. As someone with family in the medical field, what you’re doing is equivalent to the modern day superhero. Times may get though as the future is uncertain, but its important to remember that we appreciate all that you do. Thank you all <3
  • Hello!  My name is Sara and I am a current student at UF. I’m not on campus right now due to the pandemic. I want to express the utmost thanks to everyone at Shands who is working so hard for COVID patients and their families. Additionally, I want to recognize the nurses, doctors, and staff who might not be working directly with those patients, who are still going into a hospital every day and putting themselves at risk. Your work in other areas is just as important and meaningful, and is so appreciated. I wish you all easier and brighter days ahead. Thank you so much everyone for your hard work.
  • Thank you for all you do! I appreciate all of your hard work during these hard times. I hope and pray that you and your families are staying healthy. You are changing the lives of so many everyday, and there are truly not enough “thank you’s” to express the gratitude we as a society should have for our health care workers.
  • Dear UF Healthcare Workers,  I think it is extremely important, especially during this time in the world, to thank you for the work that you have put in now and during your career as a healthcare employee. During a time when there is a mass feeling of discomfort and fear, people like you give comfort and hope for everyone else. Risking your lives everyday for the good of others is truly the most respectable thing that one can do. Your courage and leadership is appreciated by not only myself, but everyone around the world. Thank you again for all you do.  Sincerely,  John Matos
  • I hope your day is going well and that everyone around is giving you the utmost respect. What you have been doing to protect our communities is nothing short of you being a hero. The countless hours of work and stress will bring you much success in the coming years. From my Gainesville apartment, I wish that you have a great rest of your year.
  • I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping my community healthy and safe. I know this is a thankless job and I know the government/higher ups have not been making it any easier, but you have still done so much and that is why you were chosen for this. Not very many people could handle it, so I want to thank you for your superior ability in handling it. Thank you x10.
  • Hello! I know you’ve been working very hard for so long in the service of the public, and I simply want to extend my sincerest thanks for that. My name is Liv, and I’m a college student. My mom is a nurse, and I know exactly how draining your job is under normal circumstances, so I can’t imagine what it must be like now. It may feel overwhelming or pointless, but all I can say is you are valued beyond belief. You are doing the work of saints, and you have a supporter in me always. Keep fighting!
  • Hello Healthcare Worker!  This has been beyond a rough time for everyone and I believe you would know this more so than I, a freshman in college. I truly appreciate all the work you have done for our communities during these trying times and cannot appreciate how difficult, yet essential, your work is in securing the health of our nation. Just as with voting, your actions may seem miniscule in the bigger picture, but every one life saved (just as one extra vote) contributes unimaginable benefit to our society.   Stay safe and continue doing what you do best. We love you all!  – Zachary Weiner, Freshman in the Honors Program at UF

I know that your job means seeing family and friends less but because of you the friends I haven’t met yet are healthy. Please stay safe during this time and I hope things get better soon.
  • Dear Healthcare Workers,  At this stage in 2020, we did not think something like this would have happened to our world.  Although, you as nurses have done so much and risked so much in order to help for the safety and protection of others all over the world.  The constant risk of going to hospitals to aid ill patients must be terrifying, but here we are showing our gratitude to all the nurses helping us during the COVID 19 pandemic.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  From, Kevin Lee

  • Dear Nurses, Doctors, and UF health workers,       On behalf of myself and all of the students here at UF, a big thank you for all that you do. I know that a lot of us were at first reluctant and overwhelmed when it came to the idea of going on campus this fall because of the pandemic. A part of my decision to go on campus was because of the availability of resources for times of sickness. You guys are the ones that supplied those resources. You helped many first year students, like myself, to have an ease of mind in regards to going on campus for the first time during a global pandemic. I sincerely hope you all are in a good state of mind and physical health. I hope all of your families are healthy as well. You guys truly are heroes to us.  Thank you.
  • Hello to whoever this may concern,  Thank you for all of your time you have dedicated to others. I hope you truly know that your work is greatly appreciated by all and valued greatly. Not many would have the same strength to keep working during these times at such great stamina. I wish you the best mentally, and while sadly this may not end any time soon, please know that others are looking out for you. Your work has saved many and everyone is extremely grateful for it.  Thank you!
  • Thank you for sacrificing so much for the health of your community and putting yourself at risk for the health of other. Your bravery and bold commitment is seen and appreciated by others. I give my word I will continue to stay at home and take safety precautions to keep COVID from spreading.
  • Thank you so much for constantly risking your lives every day to better society as a whole. My sister who is a Registered Nurse tells me about all the things she has to do to protect herself from contracting COVID-19. I personally would never have the courage to do those things on the daily basis. Thank you for risking your lives daily to save the world.
  • We really appreciate everything y’all do! My cousin works at a hospital in NOLA and I truly understand the stress y’all go through and I thank you for all the hard work! Please don’t stop working, we love you!
  • Thank you for all you are doing to keep our community safe. I pray that you and your families stay safe during this pandemic! Even though we cannot reach you directly to say thank you, your efforts are appreciated. You make a huge difference everyday, stay strong!
  • Dear nurses, doctors, and other faculty of UF Health and Shands,   I would like to thank you all for your constant care and service at the UF Health and Shands hospital, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. I know that it is a very rough time as of now; however, I hope that the future will look brighter. I wanted to express great gratitude for everything that you have done for your communities, and the world in general. Without people like you, the world would be in chaos. I know that this pandemic can be very stressful at times, especially in a hospital setting. I hope that you all can strive on and keep doing what you are doing because the world desperately needs people like you. Having both parents working at UF Health and Shands Jacksonville, I can partially understand the constant struggles and obstacles you face day to day. All I hope for is that you all stay safe and healthy so that more people can be helped medically. Whether it is something as simple as an annual checkup, or something as complex as taking care of individuals who are in ICU isolation for COVID, I wanted you to know that you are appreciated and loved. I promise to uphold the regulations and practices of social distancing and wearing a mask. One less patient is one less ounce of stress. Thank you and god bless.  Sincerely,  Matthew Alberto

With your hard work, you have given hope to people who are in pain and are ill. Putting your life at risk to help others is a hard thing to do, but just know that your work is appreciated. • Hey! Thank you so much for all of the hard work you guys do for us. You guys are the real heroes of the pandemic and I hope to convey my best wishes! Have an amazing rest of your day!
  • Amidst these exhausting and distressing times, your services for our community and nation are immensely appreciated. Over these roughly eight months (and counting), you all have pushed through sudden unimaginable challenges like supply shortages and hopeless moments. You have worked tirelessly around the clock, treating patients in your suits drenched in sweat, and maybe even tears. You have gone possibly days or even weeks staying at the hospital, refraining from coming home to your families in order to avoid risking their safety over your own comfort. I may not have experienced these first hand, but I do recognize and value the sacrifices that you healthcare workers on the front lines are making. The successes and efforts of physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals go largely unrecognized and deserve more acknowledgment and appreciation. You all have dedicated sleepless nights and years of experience toward improving and saving the lives of both individuals and families. If someone gave me a ‘Spot the Difference between superheroes and medical workers’ puzzle, I’m pretty sure I would be stumped. I’d be losing more brain cells finding the difference than I do finding derivatives in my AP Calculus class! You all are our Spidermans and Wonder Womans and everything in between. Thank you, healthcare heroes.
  • Dear Healthcare workers,  Thank you for your diligence and preservation to combat this COVID-19 pandemic! You definitely deserve a lot of credit! I hope this letter helps you to lift your spirits during this troubling times.   Have a great day and happy early Thanksgiving!  Sincerely, Ashfia Tabassum.
  • My family and I thank you for all of the work you do. I admire your courage and strength more than anything. You are incredibly awesome. Thank you for all that you are.
  • To all health care workers,  You are the saviors, you help the people in need. I can’t imagine, as a highschooler I can’t even process the work and effort you all put into helping this pandemic. It truly is inspirational. The risk that you put yourself in for others is truly remarkable, it helps embrace the good in people. I look up to you guys everyday, you guys are making a change. You are appreciated. You are saving lives, you are helping people that need it. Not many of us can do that, not yet. Thank you for being a leader, a demonstration to the younger generations. It isn’t easy to get into this industry, nor is it easier to stay in it. Hats off!  As a seventeen year-old, its tough having to begin deciding what my career choices will be and whether or not they are the right ones. Entrepreneurs and influencers like you help me made that decision. Well, also Grey’s Anatomy! Truly, I admire the strength needed to take care of every patient and individual within jurisdictions. I hear you, even though I may not be able to do much about it, want you to know that I am proud and grateful to you for your service. Thank you for hustling for the younger generation and choosing to dedicate your time for the lives of others. Thank you for treating us with humbling gestures and kindness. Thank you for putting yourself at risk of Covid-19. Thank you for your innovation and role-modeling of the future of medical science. And again, thank you for being an amazing person altogether! I’m not sure of your exact role—maybe you’re a doctor, nurse, administrator, a lab technician—regardless, I want to thank you for staying strong during these tough times and still continuing to put others ahead of yourself. I’m Pre-med Sophomore at UF hoping to become a doctor like one of you one day, so it’s very encouraging to know we have such exceptional staff paving the way for our future. Thanks to your brave work, my friends and family are safer from the virus. I’m making sure to stay at home and urge my friends to take safety precautions as well. Although it’s a rough time, I hope you can be close to your loved ones this season and be able to relax. Have a wonderful holiday season! 🙂 Alaina Carpenter

I am sure your job is so tiring and difficult to manage at times which is why it is so important to let you know how appreciated you are! Without your help and your willingness to care for others, this virus would be taking an even greater toll on people across the world. So thank you for risking your safety for the safety of society, you are truly so inspiring and I couldn’t begin to thank you enough. I hope you have a safe and happy holiday season.

  • Thank you so much for all your hard work and commitment. Although times have been tough, you guys have stayed strong through all of it and put yourselves in danger to help others… for that there are no words to express our gratitude! You are the real heroes of our society and I hope that one day I can do something halfway as amazing as you guys have done for us. From the bottom of my heart… Thank you!
  • To whoever may be reading this, I just want to express my unparalleled gratitude for everything all of you have sacrificed during this difficult time in the world, in our country, our state, and our Gainesville area. I am sure anyone who is reading this has been working tirelessly day and night to make sure that people can recover as quickly as possible from the virus and also prevent the continued spread of the virus. I am sure it has been very overwhelming and stressful, but I am certain that when we have effectively beaten COVID-19, all your hard work can be properly appreciated. No longer will people take for granted everyday activities that have been unavailable for the past 9 months give or take, and when they do resume their “normal” lives, they will be able to do so thanks to everything every healthcare worker has done. Thank you all so much, I hope you all have a happy holiday season and that you all hang in there while we work with you to slow and eventually stop the spread of this virus.
