The GatorCare formulary is a preferred drug list. It shows you the tier and co-pay you will pay for your covered medications. Starting on October 10, 2015, brand and generic Nexium® 20 mg and 40 mg capsules will be excluded from the preferred drug list and no longer a covered benefit in the GatorCare plan.
Why is the formulary tier changing?
The drug industry is constantly changing. Due to new therapies and medications, changes are often made to preferred drug lists.
What to do if the change affects you?
If you are currently taking brand or generic Nexium® 20 mg or 40 mg capsules, please talk to your doctor about using over-the-counter (OTC) Nexium® or an alternative medication. Nexium is available over-the-counter and you do not need a prescription from your doctor. The GatorCare benefit does not cover OTC Nexium® and the drug must be paid for out-of-pocket.
